About Eric
Going to therapy requires strength and courage. By visiting this site, you have already taken the first steps toward a more fulfilling life. I believe that’s worth celebrating.
What are my specialties? I have been working with clients for five years and specialize in the treatment of:
- Eating Disorders, Disordered Eating, and Body Image Concerns
- Faith Development (e.g., faith crises, faith transitions, etc.)
- and Performance Concerns (e.g., sports, music, academic, and vocational)
Aside from these areas of specialty, I have been trained as a generalist and am experienced in treating a broad set of issues including depression, anxiety, OCD, relationship problems, sexual concerns, and trauma.
I aim to offer not only my personal best to clients but also the most current evidence-based interventions. You deserve treatment that is up-to-date and tailored to your needs. And you deserve to see someone who works to stay informed. A doctoral graduate in clinical psychology, I am familiar with recent innovations in the field and emphasize deliberate practice in my time outside of sessions.
What does therapy with me look like? Beyond providing concrete coping tools, I value clients as human beings and enjoy learning their unique stories. In other words, I see clients as people, not as puzzles to be solved. With me, you can expect a dry sense of humor, a warm interpersonal style, and genuine concern about your struggles and goals. You can expect a collaborative relationship where we work together to identify your edges of growth and potential solutions to problems. Ultimately, I believe you are the expert on your life and will always respect your autonomy. That said, I can provide stronger direction when necessary or requested.
For those who are interested, my approach draws most from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and person-centered therapies. These methods highlight the importance of living a full, meaningful life over simply living with less pain. They involve exploring your values—what ultimately matters to you—and coming up with ways to pursue those values more earnestly.
Your time is a precious currency. I value efficiency in treatment and will do my best to help you achieve your therapeutic goals as quickly as possible. Still, many mental health concerns require longer-term support, which I can also provide. I aim to stay clear about the benefits and limits of therapy throughout treatment.
What are my credentials? In August of 2021, I graduated with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Brigham Young University. I am a licensed Psychologist in Utah. My doctoral research focused on how clients experience improvement in therapy.
Who am I personally? Outside of work, you can find me making my way through the Wasatch mountains, playing drums, or digging into a good book. I ran cross country and track in high school and college, and I maintain friendships with my teammates to this day. I value balance, self-care, and relationships and take measures to show up as my best self. If you believe we might be a good fit, please reach out for a consultation. I look forward to meeting with you.
